The summer of 1974 – 40 years on!

3rd Bulletin - Actions

The big ‘FOUR O’ is an important milestone in the life of anyone and anything.

It is a time to look back, and also to look forward.

History is being made every minute, and nearly 40 years have now passed since four schools merged into one on this site. It is perhaps too soon for interpretation and perspective, but it is certainly not to soon to begin to create an archive for Lincoln Christ's Hospital School by bringing relevant items together in one place in a coherent manner

Mr.Wright, with the support of the School Governors, has made two important decisions:

  1. We will begin to collect items relating to Lincoln Christ’s Hospital since 1974. The priority is to collect, conserve and collate. The analysis will come later.

What will we collect? Almost anything – school publications, reports, photographs, uniforms, play and concert programmes, sports team sheets, stories of staff and pupil life

Where will we store it? In the Library stack temporarily with the support of Miss Marjolo, our Librarian

  1. Mr Williams, once history teacher and employed here since 1986, and deputy head at Lincoln Christ's Hospital School from 1986 to 2007 has been Honorary Archivist of the Garton Archive since 2005. He has now been appointed to a part-time post as Assistant Archivist for the post-1974 collection i.e. everything relating to the present school from the merger to the present and beyond.

Mr Harrod will continue in his role as Assistant Archivist responsible for the Garton Archive and the pre-1974 collection

In turn, Mr Harrod and Mr Williams would like welcome lots of help from anyone who has studied or worked at Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School since the merger.
