        Year 9

In year 9 Design and Technology you will complete many different projects, if you want more information on the project

you are completing, simply click the photo accompanying the description of the project:

Resistant Materials - Pewter Casting is a way in which we can melt down a soft metal (pewter) and pour it into a cast. In this way we can produce many differing shapes and objects.

You will be building your skills with computer aided design (CAD) to use the CNC Miller to produce the mould for your design. Once your mould is designed you will melt down the metal and use it to make a product of your choice.

Finally and most importantly you will use your imagination to produce a fresh new design, which is viable for production on the mass market. More...
CAD - ProDesktop: During year 9 you may also get the chance to work with ProDesktop, which is three dimensional CAD (Computer Aided Design) software, which we can use to design and visualise products.

Over the course of this project you will learn the basics of this software and work on designing your own Portable Media Player. More...

  Food Technology: Under Construction More...
ELECTRONICS   Electronics - Aroma Fan: Over your time in this section of design and technology you will be looking into more complex uses of electronic circuits, in this case a 555 timer circuit which will control a motor.

Scent is huge business in design, creating products to create a mood or simply remove unwanted odours within the home. You will be developing an 'Aroma Fan' which will require a more complex circuit than created before as well as a wooden casing, vacuum formed lid, and battery holder. More...
