The summer of 1974 – 40 years on!

1st Bulletin - Anniversary

LCHS will be 40 years old this summer!!

How would you have felt? Your old school closing, your furniture being moved out, dozens of completely new teachers waiting for you in September, a whole new and much bigger school being prepared, and boys and girls in the same classes!

Well, this is what children in this area of Lincoln were thinking about in the summer of 1974 when four schools closed and all the pupils over 12 came together at what we now know as Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School.

The pupil numbers on this Wragby Road site trebled from about 500 to about 1500 in a mixed school after years of segregation! The four predecessor schools were Lincoln School, the Lincoln Christ’s Hospital Girls’ High School, St Giles Secondary Modern School for Boys and Myle Cross Secondary Modern School for Girls.

Today we are one school serving north Lincoln and communities up to the Trent.

PS Can you say ‘Ruby Anniversary’ for a school?
